Kelly and Mitch are the kind of couple you want to be friends with. Getting to be a part of their wedding journey was nothing but fun! They booked their wedding with Nudo when The Wool Mill was just that, a wool mill! Believing wholeheartedly in Nudo’s vision, they saw their dream venue transform before their eyes. Captured by the oh so talented Marie-Luise, their wedding was the perfect mix of romance and party! It included bahn mi and tacos, 110 of their nearest and dearest, and a special appearance by the light of their life; their dog Oden.
What made you decide to book your wedding with Nudo?
Kelly: ‘We were one of the first couples to sign up and it was so great! I was determined to have Kim (creative director at Nudo and head of Anatomy of Flowers) do my florals. So when she said that Nudo did this whole combined package that had everything I thought damn that sounds perfect for us!’
Mitch: ‘Nudo takes a lot of the stress and organising out of it, and you just get all the fun bits of preparing a wedding.’
How did you find planning your wedding? Was it stressful?
Kelly: ‘We definitely didn’t find wedding planning stressful at all. I’m a very stressy person, and it was a breath of fresh air doing it all with Nudo and the team. It was really relaxed, like hanging out with friends almost. We absolutely adore the team there. Could not recommend enough! It’s been really nice telling people how much fun we had wedding planning, and people are always very surprised.’
Mitch: ‘There is always this stigma that you’ll be relieved once you come up to the big day with all the preparation, but we didn’t really have any of that! It was a very fun experience all the way through so we really enjoyed the day a lot more.’
What would you say was the best part of your day?
Mitch: ‘The lead up to the ceremony was really good. We did it a little bit differently to the traditional way (doing a first look) and it was good. Nudo were really helpful in setting that up and made the whole thing really smooth as well! It gave us more opportunity to catch up with everyone who was down for the wedding. The venue as well. I loved the underground bar, it was really cool. Very impressed with how it linked on to our dance floor where we spent a lot of time later in the night.’
Kelly: ‘Definitely walking back down the aisle after we got married. That was really special. A lot of petals to the face! Into the old eyeballs. But that nice smooth sequence of after the ceremony, into the cocktail area with the snacks and drinks. Then we got to do our big entrance into the downstairs area. The entrance down that bridal staircase was really fun. And then obviously the cake- great!’
What would be your advice to other couples planning their big day?
Mitch: ‘Make sure you have plenty of good people there to capture the moments. Having a photographer and videographer was actually great. You hear a million times before the wedding how quick it goes. You don’t realise it goes every quicker than everyone tells you.’
Kelly: ‘You want them to be people you are comfortable with. You want to make sure they are getting the best version of you and just having a good time!’
Kelly and Mitch loved having the amazing Marie-Luise shoot their wedding day. They felt like she became a friend through the process!
