We recently sat down to chat with our talented wedding planners and asked them the following question:
‘If a couple had one area to really splurge on for their wedding day, what would you recommend?”
Here is what they came up with!
“So you want to splurge on something for your big day, but you are not quite sure what will have the most impact with your guests?
The options are endless! So it really depends on your personal style and what you will value most looking back on your big day. A real show stopper in my eyes are the personal touches you can make with your table styling, it’s the area your guests will be for the longest period of time. Whether you’re having casual style sharing mains or more traditional individually plated dinner you can’t go past a beautifully styled table.”
Something as simple as a coloured linen napkin and beautiful copper cutlery is enough to really add that extra pop of colour and transform your venue. This is where you really get to have some fun and show off your personal style! It’s always fun to bounce off the colours your having in your florals, if you are keeping your flowers really paired back with classic white and green- bring that real punch of colour with some bright and crisp colours, try a textured table runner or coloured candles. Have we mentioned how much we loooooove the ambience of candles? Talk about romance.”
Table styling doesn’t just mean crockery and cutlery, it spills into your on the day stationary pieces like menus and placecards. Personalised menus are an amazing touch to really make your guests feel special. Why not have fun with different shapes and do a die-cut menu or place card to create a point of difference? Our amazing graphic designer Hilary is always keen to try something different and new! So if you think you have an idea that will wow your guests don’t be afraid to share!! Help Hilary bring your stationary dreams to life.”
Another part of your table styling that you can have some fun with, and set yourself apart, are your favours! Gone are the days of the sugar coated almonds (did anyone ever eat those anyway? I know I didn’t). Splurging on something that really adds to your table styling but also doubles as a special take home for your guests is a win-win! Great for the gram and also amazing for your guests to remember your special day.”
“I would have to say florals! They’re one of the most impactful elements that change every wedding in a venue that stays the same every time. When you think about it, your venue that may have taken you 6 months to choose and fall in love with, churns out sometimes up to 5 weddings a weekend! That means a different couple getting married in the same space, celebrating with their friends and family and getting their boogie on on the dancefloor. Realistically, the only thing that dramatically changes that space to really make it your own, is your personal and custom wedding florals!“
They can also be used to represent you and your day so well by making sure your personal style is shown! We want your guests to walk into a space and think “oh this is sooo Karen + John” – a huge part of that has to do with your wedding flowers! Whether they’re relaxed and boho, or modern and chic, they are a fantastic way to represent your style on your day.”
Florals can also bring colour into a venue that could be plain white! When you fall in love with a venue because of it’s blank canvas appeal (like The Wool Mill!), flowers are the BEST way to bring in colour and style! Imagine the pop of red roses against a white brick wall, incredible!”
On the one day of your life that you’re photographed sometimes over 1000 times, it’s nice to have some gorg florals to be standing in front of or holding! This is something I often chat to my couples about as it’s great to think about the outcome of not just what you want your venue to look like, but what you want your photos to look like! Do you want to be standing in front of an incredible floral arbor for your first kiss? Do you want to be holding a bouquet that is sooo you for your bridal portraits? Do you want to give your guests an opportunity to grab that pic for the gram in front of an epic flower wall? Think about ways your florals can add to your day as well as your guests experience”
It’s the one day you can justify spending money on filling a space with florals! Let’s face it, every person waits for the day their fiance or partner comes home with the BIGGEST bunch of flowers you’ve ever seen!! Imagine getting to choose exactly what flowers and colours you want, and then FILLING YOUR DREAM VENUE. Honestly, the reaction when you walk in and see them will be worth every penny.”
“I wish everyone could see the difference that having live acoustic music playing during your ceremony makes, compared to playing a song through Spotify! As a wedding planner I am lucky enough to watch my brides (or grooms) walk down the aisle and experience what a difference it makes, gosh it gets me EVERY time. The atmosphere in the room becomes electric, goose bumps are everywhere and that feeling of love is amped up to a whole new level.”
Nothing compares to that incredible moment when you walk down the aisle to the love of your life, doing so to swoony live music- that is where I would splash out, without a doubt. If your want to bring in family traditions, music is such a great way to do so. Think about using bagpipes playing whilst your guests enter the venue, drums banging when you walk into the reception area as a married couple for the first time, even a bougie piano player doing his thing to create some epic moments for you and your guests”
Continue the vibe throughout the night with an acoustic duo playing some soft dreamy tunes for cocktail hour and dinner, then getting the dance floor going and partying into the night! Bands are also great for bringing the dance floor to life, they know how to get the party going thats for sure! Or if you are thinking a DJ, why not book an epic DJ and sax player duo! There are so many amazing options out there, make sure you do some reasearch, go to a gig or two, watch some videos of their performances, to make sure they are right for your big day. The atmosphere at your wedding is everything, and this is the best way to create an unforgettable one.”
